Our workplace: a unique terroir and a flagship grape variety
close to paris
Located midway between Paris and Reims (only 80km from Paris), our vineyard is a gateway to Champagne. The estate stretches across four villages and comprises 23 growing plots, all ideally located across the slopes on the banks of the Marne River.
OUR TEMPERAMENTAL VALLEY
A MEANDER BETWEEN THE HEAVENS AND THE EARTH
Combining erosion and sedimentation, over time the River Marne has deeply wound its way through the rocks, making for a complex terroir with a mix of soil types facing in different directions, enabling the vines to express themselves differently on each growing plot.
MEUNIER
Meunier is a low-yield characterful grape variety. Its hardiness enables it to withstand the rigours of our unique climate. Our clay-limestone soils enable Meunier to truly flourish and encourage it to reveal all of its fruitiness, smoothness and roundness.
A DIVERSITY OF GRAPE VARIETIES OFFERS A CREATIVE LICENCE FOR BLENDING
We are fortunate to grow the three typical Champagne grape varieties – Chardonnay, Pinot noir and Meunier – which enable us to blend creatively and freely.
Delicate and particularly susceptible to spring frosts, not much Chardonnay is grown in our temperamental valley, where the humidity and coolness make for frosty conditions. This grape variety, with its subtle and elegant (floral and citrus fruit) aromas, does not guarantee a good harvest from one year to the next, which makes it a rarity in the valley.
Pinot Noir is full-bodied and provides wines with structure and strength. The variety fully expresses its characteristic red berry aromas in rosé and vinified white wines.
